Strange.

I thought I’d use the e-mail output to check what was happening and I got this

setlock: fatal: unable to lock /tmp/cronlock.963711.52083: temporary failure

I’ve now deleted the cron job and done it again. I’ll see what happens.

I did intially import my entire Google Reader export but then I decided that I’d use this as an excercise to trim down and work out what should be a spark and what should be a kindling.

So far so good. Thanks for running through that though. Good to know I was doing the right thing and that I’ve just got a problem on my server :)

1. Log-in to your Dreamhost panel, go to Goodies, then cron jobs
2. There should be a drop down with a list of all the users that have shell access. if this dropdown is empty, you need to go and set up shell access for one of your users. (Go users, manage users, edit one of them, then pick user account type: shell)
3. On the cron jobs page, give the job a title (e.g. “fever refresh every 15 mins” and set status to enabled
4. In the command to run field, enter “curl -L -s http://yoururl.com/yourpath/?refresh” (without the quotes, swapping in your URL)
5. Tick “prevent locking”
6. Under when to run, pick custom, then every 15 minutes (every hour, every day, every month, every day of week)
7. That’s it. Hit save and it should work.
